Elyse Golob, Ph.D. Director
As Director, Dr. Golob supervises the day-to-day operations of OEPA and oversees its program areas, including International Business and Trade, Technology - Based Economy and Regional Economic Development. She is currently coordinating the UA’s Border Security Initiatives.
Dr. Golob is the author of several publications and actively served on a number of initiatives to advance regional economic development in the New York City Region. This included leading a team of researchers to develop indicators to measure key data in New York City that resulted in it being named Fortune magazine’s “Best City for Business” in 1997 and 2000. She initiated New York City’s biotechnology program and designed a new Technology Transfer Initiative that received $10 million in funding from the city.
Dr. Golob holds a Ph.D. in Urban Planning and Policy Development from Rutgers University. She earned a Master of Arts in Culture and Policy Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing from Empire State College, State University of New York. She is a member of the Arizona-Mexico Commission, the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning.
Jaewon Lim, Ph.D. Regional Economist
Dr. Lim is responsible for conducting economic impact analyses including the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park Impact Study and regional economic development through the Arizona-Sonora Regional Indicators Study.
His research interests include: economic and regional development, regional labor market dynamics and wage differentials, interregional trade and migration, impact of demographic changes on regional economies, GIS, housing and real estate.
Dr. Lim has worked as a research assistant in the Regional Economic Applications Laboratory (REAL) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, as Assistant Researcher for the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements in Kyonggi-do Korea and at the Urban and Transportation Science Research Center in Seoul, Korea.
Dr. Lim holds a Ph.D. in Regional Planning and a M.U.P. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a B.S. in Engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea.
Lourdes Gonzalez Executive Assistant
Ms. Gonzalez assists the Director of the Office of Economic and Policy Analysis and serves as the office manager. She has worked at The University of Arizona for 8 years in the UA Office of Economic Development and the Office of Economic and Policy Analysis.
Ms. Gonzalez has extensive knowledge and experience in business practices including human resources, marketing and business management.
She attended the University of Puerto Rico and Pima Community College and has completed the University of Arizona Leadership Institute Certification.
